California Setting a Good Model for other States

California has an active and liberal focus on medical marijuana. The proposition 215 bill passed in 1996 gave weight to the medical marijuana field by allowing medical marijuana to be distributed by physicians and allowing patients to have it. The passing of proposition 215 allowed for scientific and medical development to occur . This has resulted in more than 250 illnesses being researched and approved for use medicinally with marijuana. The freedom shown from the California legislative branch sets precedence for future legislation whether it be federal or state level lawmakers.

This is a good start to hopefully one day getting the government to legalize the use of marijuana for personal or medicinal use. The other states should look at the positive outcome it has had by like you said having over 250 illnesses being researched. This can only help because research can only help this situation so all 50 states need to do what california has done and all agree on making marijuana legal.

I think that this is good that finally people are seeing the positive uses of marijuana not just the negative uses where people are abusing the drug. I believe that this aspect of the legalization of marijuana debate is worth further research.

All it takes is positive buzz and publicity on the subject of medical marijuana to turn the tides in favor of legalization for those who use marijuana medically. Not all states are as progressive and liberal as California towards new ideas much in the same way some states still havent accepted stem cell research. There is obvious evidence that medicinally marijuana use in some illnesses is not only a medicine but the only medicine(glaucoma).
